For a second year, the CHUS Foundation offered Townshippers a unique, local, and community-based option for the evening meal on Valentine’s Day, while respecting the health measures in place: a couple’s dinner box, with everything included from entrée to dessert.

This initiative by the Leaders of Tomorrow Committee is designed to support local restaurants and producers, while raising funds for the Fonds de l’Espérance. This fund’s mission is unique and goes beyond the usual framework for projects supported by the CHUS Foundation given that patients and their families are helped directly.
In fact, the Fonds de l'Espérance is entirely dedicated to families of children treated in pediatrics, neonatology and child psychiatry atHôpital Fleurimont who need one-off financial assistance during this period. Car rental, hotel accommodation, cafeteria meals, travel expenses, support for other children in the family - these are just some of the concrete examples of the assistance provided through this fund.

Thanks to the 2022 edition of the Soirée St-Valentin event, $30,100 will be donated to the Fonds de l’Espérance.
“The Leaders of Tomorrow Committee believes in the importance of concretely impacting our community. In these difficult times, pairing support for families with a hospitalized child and support for the region’s restaurant owners seemed a perfect fit and it was truly aligned with our values,” commented Laura Pomerleau, committee member and co-owner of Noréa Foyers Pomerleau.
It must be noted that the contributions of local businesses played a key role in not only the successful development of this project, but also its appeal and its popularity. Without the cocktails concocted by Distillerie Cherry River; the enticing meals created by Restaurant O’Chevreuil, Brasserie Les Enfants Terribles, Café Massawippi, and Brûleries Faro; the cheeses from Fromagerie La Station de Compton; the limes from Metro Plouffe; the bottles of wine selected by Elixirs, the surprises from Boutique LUV; and the ambiance created through the soundtrack of DJ Louis Wax, the CHUS Foundation’s Valentine’s Day date night event would not have been as attractive. In fact, it couldn’t have been held at all.
In the same vein, the CHUS Foundation wishes to thank the 30 or so volunteers who worked intensely over three days to assemble, fill, distribute, and deliver the boxes.
