For this new edition, the grand prize winner will have a choice from three prizes: A beautiful cottage with a modern design by Maison Usinex and an allowance of $50 000 for the land (total value of $200 000); a fully equipped Élégance VR Sherbee van to go on an adventure (total value of $200 000); or $125 000 in cash. The nine other prizes to be won include a 2022 Mazda MX-30 EV provided by Groupe Beaucage.
The cottage, showcased in the Canadian Tire’s parking lot on Plateau Saint-Joseph, will be open to the public tomorrow, Friday, April 15. As explained by Jean-François Bérubé, Chair of the Board of Directors of the CHUS Foundation,
“The funds raised by this public draw will be shared with ten other health foundations in the region. In regard to the CHUS Foundation, all profits will go to Fleurimont Hospital’s Centre mère-enfant et urgence (CMEU - mother-child emergency centre). This new building will provide pleasant and friendly spaces for children and their families as well as others who need to go to the emergency department. The objective is to provide a healing, people-centred environment that will be well-lit, efficient, safe, and calm for patients, their families, and the staff.”
As such, all of the partners have established associations between the cause supported by the CHUS Foundation, their family business, and the values they promote. Mariève Beaucage, Vice-President of Groupe Beaucage—the main sponsor of the Grand tirage—said,
“This Centre mère-enfant is especially important to us because family is at the core of our values. It all started with my parents, and it is now up to my sisters to pass on these values to our own families. We also believe it is important to convey these values within our company. After all, our employees give us strength.”
In the same vein, Geneviève Morin, Assistant General Manager of Maison Usinex, explained: "Our fathers, the founders of the company, were involved with this Estrie organization for 11 years. It was a direct reflection of their human, family, and community values. Thus, as the next generation, it is natural for us to give back because we have the same values at heart. We know our involvement in this project will yield positive impacts on the health care and services offered in Estrie."
René Couture, business owner of Sherbrooke’s IGA and IGA extra, explained, “Being close to and actively participating in our community is important to us. Our employees have shown enthusiasm for selling tickets because we are truly committed to actively supporting the quality of care available in our region. We will all be happy to benefit from it if ever needed.”
Many other local partners (Voyages Escapade, participating Jean Coutu pharmacies, Sports Experts in Sherbrooke, Canadian Tire Sherbrooke and Fleurimont, Maison Bureau et Bureau, Carrefour de l’Estrie, Club Piscine Super Fitness Sherbrooke, Bleu Lavande, Chocolats Favoris in Sherbrooke, Pacini in Sherbrooke, La Cage – Brasserie sportive in Sherbrooke, and OMG Resto) are raising interest in this draw by offering prizes or discount coupons, in addition to being points of sale. Tickets can be purchased at any one of our partners’ branches and the associated foundations, or online.
Martin Clermont, Executive Director of the CHUS Foundation, warmly thanked all the partners for their involvement, including those who worked on building and finishing the cottage. He also emphasized that the contributions made year after year by volunteers demonstrate they are “unparalleled ambassadors and pillars for such activity.”
