The CHUS Foundation supports the strategic directions of the CIUSSS del’Estrie – CHUS* in order to contribute to the continuous improvement of the health care and services provided to the population.

By supporting research, prevention, training and humanization of care projects, the Foundation ensures the health of the Estrie region community, from birth to the end of life.

*Fleurimont Hospital, Sherbrooke’s Hôtel-Dieu Hospital, and the Centre de recherche du CHUS

CHUS Foundation is a charitable organization that acts as a privileged partner in the advancement and development ofHôpital Fleurimont,Hôtel-Dieu de Sherbrooke and Centre de recherche du CHUS.

Since its incorporation in 1977, daily efforts have been made to meet the needs for state-of-the-art medical equipment, research, and for implementing and updating new programs to humanize health care.

August 24

Constitution of the Centre hospitalier universitaire de Sherbrooke (CHUS) Foundation by letters patent.

1978

June 2

Launch of the Centre hospitalier universitaire Foundation by Dr. Lazure, Minister of Social Affairs.

1978

September 16

First donation to the Centre hospitalier universitaire Foundation from the Société des médecins of the Université de Sherbrooke’s Faculty of Medicine in the amount of $75,000.

1980

1980 to 1985

During this period, the Centre hospitalier universitaire Foundation contributed more than $2 million to the Fleurimont Hospital.

1995

July 1st

Amalgamation of Sherbrooke’s three hospitals and their three respective foundations.

The foundations of the Centre hospitalier universitaire de Sherbrooke, Des Amis de l’Hôtel-Dieu, and of Saint-Vincent-de-Paul united to form a single entity: the CHUS Foundation. The Estrie hospital foundations were the first foundations in Quebec to merge.

1995

To reflect its new identity, the CHUS Foundation chose a new logo, with a graphic element that has remained: a butterfly.

2012

Update of the Foundation logo: The pink butterfly was changed to a yellow and orange butterfly.

2018

The CHUS Foundation celebrated 40 years in operation!

2022

The CHUS Foundation team keeps growing stronger. We have a record 17 employees! The Foundation is also revamping its brand image by upgrading its website and logo, which has been used for 10 years.

Since 1977, the CHUS Foundation has donated more than $88 million to the CIUSSS de l'Estrie - CHUS.

These funds have enabled the Fleurimont Hospital, Sherbrooke’s Hôtel-Dieu Hospital, and the Centre de recherche du CHUS to make major progress on technological advances, in addition to enabling the achievement of projects in medical research, staff training, and humanization of care.

Honesty and transparency

Each year, the CHUS Foundation produces and makes available its annual report and financial statements in order to share its achievements with the community and report on the financial situation at the end of the fiscal year.
